Sydney’s First All Abilities Christmas Carols a Big Hit in Rozelle

This Christmas together2 hosted one of Sydney’s first ‘All Abilities’ Christmas Carols Concert, celebrating our diverse community and empowering voices and talents that are not always seen and heard.

The event brought to the stage a number of groups and soloists of all abilities in the newly renovated Mission Hall in Rozelle, where local talent spread Christmas cheer with carols, dancing and theatre performances.

The carols event sought to provide an opportunity for the entire community, no matter who you are, to get on stage and share your gift. CEO of together2, Steven Lowrie said the event was an inspirational one showcasing the unique talents of our Inner West community and its love of music and the arts.

“It was wonderful to see so many local groups and soloists get involved in the Christmas Concert this year and that so many members of the community came to support the event. You could really feel the joy in the room as performers got to have their moment on stage and share what they love,” said Steven, CEO of together2.

Some of the performing groups included the All Abilities together2 Youth Theatre, Ebenezer Mission Youth Choir, Balmain Uniting Church, Sydney Street Choir and Balletique. Amazing solos were also sung by locals including Paul Kapeleris who featured on Australia’s Got Talent, Naomi Zequios and students from Emma Dean’s Singing School in Balmain. Jamie Parker, Member for Balmain, attended stating that it is events such as these that show what community is all about. Councillor Kobi Shetty, her husband and three children also attended the event to celebrate.

A big thanks was given to Inner West Council, Balmain Uniting Church Performance Group and Gift of Bread for supporting the event as well as to all the performers who took part.

The event was an initiative by together2, a local Not-For-Profit community centre and NDIS provider in Rozelle, to promote inclusivity in the area and in the arts.

Stay tuned for future community events and initiatives by together2!
