Aged care · Guide
The path through My Aged Care, the free assessment, and choosing who supports you.
The aged care system is not simple, and none of this has to be done alone. If you get stuck at any point, ring us and we will help you through the next bit.
1 · Ring My Aged Care, or let us help you do it
My Aged Care is on 1800 200 422, and you can also apply online. This is the front door to the whole system, and the first call is mostly about who you are and how you are managing.
2 · An assessor visits
Since the Single Assessment System came in, one assessment workforce covers the whole of aged care, so you should not be handed between organisations. The assessment is free, and the outcome letter usually arrives within two to six weeks.
3 · You choose who supports you
Being approved for CHSP does not tie you to anyone. You pick your provider, and you can change your mind later. If you would like that to be us, we would be glad.
4 · We come and have a cup of tea
We sit down at your place, work out what would genuinely make the week easier, and write it into a plan and a service agreement in plain words before anything starts.
