Aged care services in Sydney’s Inner West

A hand at home, so you can stay at home and stay yourself.

At a glance

What aged care at home is

Practical help, so you can keep living at home.

  • Who it is for

Older people managing at home, who would manage better with some regular help.

  • Where

In your own home, and out in your community.

  • How it is paid for

The Australian Government pays most of it. You pay a contribution, agreed with you first.

  • How to start

A free assessment through My Aged Care. We can help you apply.

How we can help

The ordinary things that hold a life at home together

  • Help around the house

Cleaning, laundry and shopping, done with you rather than around you.

  • A break for carers

A worker stays with the person you care for, at home or on a few hours out, so you can rest.

  • Social support

One-to-one support to stay connected with people and your community.

  • Nursing and personal care

In your own home, through Support at Home, as Trilogy Care’s associated provider.

The carers' dedication and commitment extend beyond their duties, ensuring my mother's safety and well-being, and providing invaluable support to me.

How it works

Four steps, and we can help with each one

  1. Ring My Aged Care

Call 1800 200 422 or apply online. We can help you do it.

  2. An assessor visits

It is free. The letter usually arrives in two to six weeks.

  3. You choose who supports you

Being approved does not tie you to anyone.

  4. We come for a cup of tea

Then we write a plan with you, in plain words.

Around the house

What help around the house covers, and what it does not

Your assessment sets out what you are funded for. We will read it with you.

It covers

  • House cleaning: mopping, vacuuming and washing up
  • Laundry and ironing
  • Shopping: the list, the shop and bringing it home

It does not cover

  • Professional cleaning, such as pest control or carpets
  • Moving furniture or other heavy items
  • Pet care
  • The groceries themselves, or managing your money

What CHSP costs

A contribution, agreed with you first

  • You pay a contribution, never the full cost

  • Nothing starts until the fee is agreed in writing

  • No exit fees

  • Your pension is not affected

If money is tight, tell us. Our contribution policy takes hardship into account, and we will send you a copy.

A hand at home

Help with everyday tasks

A hand with the vacuuming. A morning where a family member can go to their own appointment, because somebody else is sitting with the person they care for.
