How we work: the Keys to Citizenship

Our practice is grounded in Simon Duffy’s Keys to Citizenship, a framework that turns good intentions into the actual components of a life: freedom, a direction of your own, money, a home, help given the way you ask for it, a life in your community, and love.

We use it because it is a test rather than a slogan. If a support plan cannot show how it moves at least one of these, it is not yet a support plan.

Alongside it we draw on Think Local Act Personal from the United Kingdom, the Wellbeing Teams and Buurtzorg models of self-managing teams, and the Australian Government’s guide to place-based initiatives.
