  2. 1990s

Care services grow around the centre.

Home care and disability support grow out of the centre's community work, one household at a time.

  3. 2016

    NDIS registration.

We become a registered NDIS provider and build specialist disability teams with real clinical governance.

One legal entity, two arms: together² specialist services and the Rozelle Neighbourhood Centre.

  5. 2026

    Our future, community led.

Our 2026 to 2029 plan: a revitalised centre, a café that does more than coffee, and a Wellbeing Hub. The next chapter is ours to write together.

We started as a neighbourhood centre on Darling Street, with playgroups, a cup of tea, and help for whoever walked in. More than forty years on we are one organisation with two arms, still on the same street, still answering the same question: what does this community need? The answer has grown a great deal. The question has not changed at all.

From a cup of tea to clinical care

In 1984, Rozelle Neighbourhood Centre opened its doors. Through the 1990s, home care and disability support grew out of the centre's community work, one household at a time. Nobody set out to build a specialist service. People kept asking, and the centre kept saying yes.

In 2016 we became a registered NDIS provider and built specialist disability teams with real clinical governance. In 2024, together² was born: one legal entity, two arms, together² specialist services and the Rozelle Neighbourhood Centre.

One organisation, two arms

together² provides specialist disability, aged care and clinical services across metropolitan Sydney: Supported Independent Living, in-home and community supports, positive behaviour support, SSRC, SLES, aged care and clinical nursing.

Rozelle Neighbourhood Centre is the community arm, and the place it all started. A hub on Darling Street with programs, events, the Good in the Hood food relief partnership, the coming social enterprise café and Wellbeing Hub, and Circles of Support.

The two arms share more than an address. The clinical teams learned to work in ordinary homes on ordinary streets because that is where the centre had always worked. The centre gets the back office, the governance and the reach that a specialist provider brings. Neither would look the way it does without the other.

What comes next

Our 2026 to 2029 plan is the next chapter: a revitalised centre, a café that does more than coffee, and a Wellbeing Hub. It was co-designed with our community in October 2025 and endorsed by our Board. The plan is set out in Our Future: the Community-Led Plan 2026 to 2029, and the thinking behind it in The case for community-led services.

The next chapter is ours to write together. If you have been part of this story at any point since 1984, as a neighbour, a volunteer, a worker or someone we supported, we would like to hear from you. Call 02 9556 9500 or get in touch.
