Volunteering with us
What volunteers do at the hub, how much time it takes, and what you need to start.
More than a hundred people volunteer here every week. They prepare rescued food, cook, pack, drive, deliver, garden, set up events and make an enormous amount of tea.
Two hours or twenty
Some people do one delivery run a week. Some are here most days. Both are useful, and nobody keeps a leaderboard.
There is more than cooking
Driving, packing, sorting produce, making tea, sitting with somebody at the hub, the garden, setting up for events, and a fair amount of unglamorous admin.
You do not need experience
You need to be reasonably reliable and reasonably kind. We will show you everything else, and you will not be left on your own on your first shift.
Most of this runs on volunteers
That is not a polite thing we say. Take the volunteers out of our community services and almost nothing on them happens.
