At a glance

What Supported Independent Living is

SIL means support workers help you with everyday life, in the place you call home.

  • Where

One of our shared homes, a place of your own, or somewhere you already rent or own.

  • Who it is for

Adults with a disability who need help with daily life, every day.

  • How it is paid for

Through your NDIS plan. SIL pays for the support, not rent or bills.

  • How to start

Anyone can refer: you, a family member or a support coordinator.

Who we support

We specialise in complex support needs

Our teams deliver contemporary supports for people who need additional support.

  • Behaviours of concern

  • Psychosocial disability

  • Autistic adults who need calm, predictable homes

  • Intellectual disability with high support needs

  • High intensity health needs, such as tube feeding or tracheostomy care

  • Reablement specialist for placement breakdowns

How a referral works

Four steps, at a safe pace

  1. Tell us the whole picture

No need to tidy it up. We would rather know now.

  2. We assess carefully

A clinician and an operations lead review it together.

  3. We plan the move

Meet people first. Staff trained before day one.

  4. We report back

Clear, regular updates, including when things are hard.

What it costs

What SIL pays for, and what it does not

SIL pays for

  • Personal care
  • Cooking, cleaning and daily routines
  • Help taking medication
  • Building independent living skills
  • Getting to appointments
  • Getting out into the community

SIL does not pay for

  • Rent or board
  • Groceries
  • Electricity, gas, phone or internet
  • Holidays
  • The building itself (that is SDA)
  • Day programs, work or study supports

Our team

Clinical care built into every home

  • Registered nurses

Write each person’s care plan, train the workers on it, and sign off their competency.

  • Behaviour support practitioners

In the homes every day, not just on paper. Assessed as suitable by the NDIS Commission.

  • Experienced support workers

Matched to you: interests, language, culture and humour. You choose who supports you.

It is clear the team are really embracing positive behaviour support in the way it was always intended to be implemented. Their work is evidence of best practice.

More than a place to live

Small homes on ordinary streets, pointed at the community.

Every home is an ordinary house, with a plan for who your people are and what you want to be part of.

  • Purpose
  • Money
  • Freedom
  • Help
  • Home
  • Love
  • Life

Getting started

Getting started is simple

  1. Contact us

Call, or send a message. Tell us a little about you, or the person you care for.

  2. Discuss your needs

We visit you, or you visit us at Rozelle. We work out together what good support looks like.

  3. Start receiving support

We begin with what matters most, and grow the support as trust grows. You stay in charge.
